#1 How does it work?
Secret RF uses microneedles to deliver fractional Radio Frequency (RF) energy into varying levels of the skin, including the deeper layers, where treatment is most beneficial.
There are two sizes of treatment tips – 25 and 64 pin – which allow for customizable options when treating the face and body.
The radiofrequency delivers heat directly to the dermis, stimulating collagen and elastin production, tightening and smoothing the skin.
#2 What does it treat?
Because it tightens and plumps by encouraging collagen production, Secret RF is used to treat aging skin - deep lines, wrinkles, and sagging. It’s also an effective treatment for reducing pore size and minimizing the appearance of scars and stretch marks.
Some studies have also been shown to destroy fat cells, making it an effective treatment around the jawline to enhance facial definition.
#3 Radio Frequency vs. Standard Micro-Needling
Radio Frequency Microneedling, like regular Microneedling, uses a hand tool with tiny needles that penetrate the skin. This causes a controlled injury that activates collagen. The injured skin rebuilds itself into a new and improved version.
But unlike regular Microneedling, RF Microneedling emits radiofrequency heat into the layers of the skin, greatly enhancing the overall effect.
#4 What is the process?
The first step to RF Microneedling is to cleanse the skin – removing makeup and residue that naturally builds up on your skin throughout the day.
Then, I’ll apply a compound prescription numbing cream everywhere the skin is penetrated and leave that for about 30 minutes. This allows the treatment to be virtually painless, except for a couple of sensitive areas – don’t worry, I’ll talk you through it as we go.
After your skin is nice and numb, I remove the cream and begin! The actual microneedling part is relatively fast – all you have to do is relax, and it will be over in minutes.
#5 Am I a good candidate?
If you are concerned about the appearance of wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, loose skin, acne scars or stretch marks, then this treatment may be an excellent option for you.
Of course, a consultation is always recommended to assess your specific needs.
#6 How many sessions do I need?
For optimal results, I recommend 3-4 sessions.
#7 How much does it cost?
Treatment plans are customized to your needs, but this service can range from $850 - $2500.
#8 What do I need to do before the treatment?
Avoid alcohol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (to minimum post-procedure bruising)
Avoid using products containing salicylic acid and retinol (popular ingredients in facial cleansers) before the procedure.
If you have taken any blood thinners, please advise your clinician before treatments
If prone to cold sores, an antiviral is recommended such as Valtrex 1 week before your appointment
Injections are spaced 2-4 weeks apart (2 for botox and 4 for fillers)
#9 What does my skin look like after treatment?
Some patients experience mild pinpoint bleeding and slight bruising (a lot of this will depend on your PRE-treatment care).
Your skin will remain mildly red for 24 hours.
Don’t put anything on your skin for 4 hours after treatment.
The following day, wash your face with a mild cleanser the next day. I recommend Alumier Sensicalm.
Stay out of the sun for 24 hours and continue to apply SPF under your makeup every day. I recommend mineral sunscreen, like AlumierMD Moisture Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 40.
